A heptagram, septagram, septegram or septogram is a seven-point star drawn with seven straight strokes. The number 7 is a very magical number, considered sacred in many traditions and open to many levels of interpretation. In Christianity it symbolizes the seven days of creation and became a traditional symbol for warding off evil. In Kaballah, it symbolizes the sphere of Netzach, the seven planets, the seven alchemical metals, and the seven days of the week. In Vedic beliefs, the body and mind are governed by the seven chakras. Among pagans it is a sacred symbol known as the Eleven Star or Fairie Star. They consider it a gateway symbol, an entrance between our world and that of the Faery, the magickal Otherworld. It is also symbolic of the seven directions -North, South, East, West, Above, Below, and Within, and the seven magical elements: earth, air, fire, water, life, light and magic.
