The Pyramids of Egypt were built as the final resting places of the Pharaohs. Their four sides stood for the four directions, the four ages of man, and the four elements. As the resting place of the Pharaohs, who were seen as the incarnations of the Sun God, Ra, the pyramids were revered as sacred objects; the meeting place of earth and sky; of humanity and the Gods.
